Browns' draft pick QB gets roster spot in UFL to try and improve NFL chances image

The United Football League (UFL) announced its quarterbacks for the upcoming season on Monday.

The list had a bunch of interesting names, including some former NFL Draft choices.

One of them is Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who the Browns chose in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of UCLA.

DTR will be part of the Orlando roster, along with Jack Plummer, who yes is the son of former NFL QB Jake Plummer.

Thompson-Robinson started five games across the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Browns, going 1-4. He threw one touchdown compared to 10 interceptions in his total NFL action in those two seasons.

He was thrown into the fire from the start as a rookie. When Deshaun Watson was ruled out less than two hours before the Browns played the Ravens in 2023, DTR was thrust into his first career start without even knowing in advance that he'd be out there. It went as well as you'd expect.

Thompson-Robinson's athletic profile was intriguing, but he never was consistent enough as a passer.

The Browns traded him as part of the deal to get Kenny Pickett before the 2025 season, sending him to the Eagles.

DTR was released before long, and now he's taking his next football step.

If Thompson-Robinson performs well in the UFL in the spring, he should get a chance back in an NFL camp in the summer. He'll have to do all he can to stick around the league from this point on.
