Browns disgruntled star changes tone, wants to be in Cleveland for rest of career image

The Cleveland Browns are a team that doesn't have a ton of high hopes in 2025. Their quarterback competition features two mid-round rookies in Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, a first-round bust in Kenny Pickett, and a veteran journeyman in Joe Flacco.

It doesn't help that the Browns are coming off their worst season since going 0-16, winning just three games in 2024. This past offseason, Myles Garrett requested a trade after the poor season, citing wanting to compete for a Super Bowl as his reason for wanting out. However, $40 million per year was enough to get Garrett back on board. Had the Browns traded Garrett, though, many thought they would also trade another star defender away - cornerback Greg Newsome.

Newsome was rumored to want out of Cleveland. However, he has clarified that he wants to be in Cleveland.

"I want to be a Brown for life," Newsome told the media on Wednesday.

Newsome is set to be a free agent in 2026.
