While the Cleveland Browns are 4-12 and haven't had a whole lot to root for this season, other than Myles Garrett chasing the NFL sack record, the rookie production has been encouraging to watch.

Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson, Harold Fannin Jr., Mason Graham, and both rookie quarterbacks in Dillon Gabreil and Shedeur Sanders have all shown promise. But no rookie has stood out more than Carson Schwesinger.

Unfortunately for the Browns and their standout rookie linebacker, Schwesinger's 2025 season is over. But, with his rookie year wrapped up, Schwesinger's statistics are some of the more impressive numbers for a rookie linebacker in some time.

Browns' Carson Schwesinger ruled out for Week 18 amid incredible rookie year

Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN highlighted just how remarkable a year Schwesinger had for Cleveland in 2025. Despite missing the final week of the year, the Browns' rookie had a stunning debut in the NFL.

He has 157 tackles, the most by a Browns rookie since the turn of the century. He also has 11 tackles for loss, which is the most by any rookie this season entering Week 18.

Combined with his 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, and three passes defensed, Schwesinger has done more than enough to earn Defensive Rookie of the Year honors this season.

Garrett is the runaway Defensive Player of the Year, while Schwesinger is a near lock for the rookie award despite missing this final week of the year.

While some other rookies have stood out as great players this season on defense, there arguably hasn't been a better rookie, on offense or defense, than Schwesinger this season.

The 22-year-old out of UCLA has had a remarkable rookie year, and while he's out for the 2025 regular season finale, he's done more than enough to earn this end-of-season accolade for an incredible rookie season.
