Browns' 10-year NFL veteran retires just days into training camp image

The Cleveland Browns just got training camp underway earlier this week.

Turns out, one of their veteran linebackers won't be sticking around.

Jordan Hicks has been placed on the reserved/retired list, effectively ending his NFL career via retirement.

Hicks played 10 seasons in the NFL, totaling 134 games with 952 tackles, 51 TFL, 16.5 sacks and 13 interceptions.

The playmaking linebacker entered the NFL as a third-round pick of the Eagles in 2015 out of Texas.

He won a Super Bowl championship as part of his four seasons in Philadelphia.

Hicks then spent three seasons with the Cardinals, two with the Vikings and the last with the Browns.

He returned to his home state to play for Cleveland. Hicks starred at Lakota West High School in Ohio.

Hicks was probably slated to start at linebacker or be the first guy rotating in.

Now, veterans Devin Bush and Jerome Baker will be among the guys in the picture looking to take Hicks' spot.

Hicks was still effective last season, with 78 tackles in 12 games. But now at age 33 he's hanging up his cleats.
