Joe Burrow's recent comments have had his name swirling around NFL trade rumors, as the quarterback hinted at being unhappy with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Like many, Burrow expressed the happiness that comes from winning, something the Bengals have struggled to do in recent seasons. Currently, Cincinnati is 4-9 and losers of five of their last six games. That includes last week's road loss against the Buffalo Bills, where the Bengals blew a 10-point lead at halftime behind two interceptions from Burrow.
Furthermore, Burrow has gone through a rough stretch of injuries during his time with the Bengals. Most recently, severe turf toe that required surgery and caused him to miss nine games.
According to Adam Schefter, Burrow's comments turned heads around the league from NFL personnel. However, some teammates of Burrow were shocked at his admission to the media.
Star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was shocked to hear about Burrow's comments. "I thought this was an AI. Did this really happen? This is real?" Said Chase. The receiver went on further to say: "He comes to work ready to play (...) No negativity from him."
Chase and Burrow have spent plenty of time together, as Chase has been with Burrow for five of his six seasons with the Bengals. Furthermore, the two were teammates together at LSU where they won a National Championship together in 2020.
With the weight of Burrow's words looming heavy on the franchise, Chase will play a prominent role in helping Burrow find fun in football again.
