Joe Burrow sparked Bengals trade rumors due to QB having a 'bad day' image

The Cincinnati Bengals are 5-10 and have been drawing a lot of attention lately. Not because of how well or poorly they've been playing, but due to the trade potential of Joe Burrow.

Cincinnati's franchise quarterback popped up in trade rumors after some comments he made at a press conference a few weeks ago. But why did Burrow make those concerning comments?

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, one source told him that Burrow's comments stemmed simply from the Bengals quarterback having a 'bad day.' It's a hard-to-believe reason, but the reports that Burrow doesn't want out corroborate that story.

Bengals' Joe Burrow made concerning comments amid a 'bad day'

"One team source believed that Burrow was simply having a 'bad day' two weeks ago at that initial news conference that sparked the consternation," Fowler reports.

Folwer shared that this source said, "I truly think he wants to be here." This report is a positive one for the Bengals, in that Burrow doesn't seem to be on his way out anytime soon.

At least, not right now. It's hard to say whether more of those "bad days" won't keep happening, especially if there aren't enough changes made over the offseason.

The Bengals' blowout win over the Miami Dolphins will help alleviate the symptoms of wanting out, but barring some major defensive improvements, Burrow's future could still be at risk.

While there is reasonable concern about the comments Burrow made on his future, especially amid the struggle that has been the Bengals' 2025 season, this report from Fowler and a team source indicates no such future is likely to come to pass.

The concerning comments came from Burrow having a bad day, which is both a ridiculous way for trade rumors to start, but also a potential sigh of relief, as it could indicate a momentary feeling as opposed to a growing concern.

For now, Burrow doesn't look to be leaving the Bengals anytime soon. Things could easily change, but barring such a future, Cincinnati is likely to keep its franchise quarterback despite the trade rumors flying around lately.
