Ja'Marr Chase injury update: Bengals star's status in question for Week 6 image

The Cincinnati Bengals are at least somewhat in danger of not having wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase for the Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Chase was initially listed on the injury report this week, but that was for rest purposes and he was limited on Wednesday before returning to a full practice on Thursday.

However, on Friday, Chase was listed with a new issue, according to head coach Zac Taylor, and that leaves his status in question for Sunday.

Here's the latest on Chase.

Ja'Marr Chase injury update

Taylor revealed that Chase will be questionable for Week 6 due to an illness. Chase did not practice on Friday as a result of being sick, Taylor added.

"Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase will be questionable for Sunday’s game, coach Zac Taylor said Missed today with an illness," ESPN's Ben Baby reported.

In what is a good sign for Chase's status, he did take part in a walkthrough with the team, according to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

While Chase's status obviously bears monitoring, it is highly unlikely an illness is going to keep him out, especially with Chase having multiple days to get better before Sunday's kickoff.

It goes without saying that the Bengals can ill-afford to not have their best offensive player as the team looks to end its three-game losing streak.

And that's especially true with Joe Flacco making his first start with the Bengals.

If Chase can't go, Tee Higgins would be in line for an increased target share, assuming he can find some early chemistry with Flacco.

Guys like wide receiver Andre Iosivas and tight ends Mike Gesicki and Noah Fant may also see increased targets if Chase is sidelined.
