The Cincinnati Bengals weren't given much choice in this matter, of course.
Joe Burrow's multi-month toe injury forced the move to backup Jake Browning as their new starting quarterback.
But through less than two full games, Browning has put up quite a concerning stat.
Browning already leads the NFL in interceptions.
He has five INTs on 59 pass attempts. That's the 30th-most pass attempts in the NFL but the most interceptions.
Browning threw three picks in relief of Joe Burrow in Week 2 but still found a way to beat the Jaguars. In Week 3, though, his two interceptions were just part of the Bengals getting absolutely drubbed by the Vikings.
This isn't the Browning that played in 2023, when he went 4-3 in his starts. That season, Browning had seven interceptions in 243 pass attempts.
That 2023 ratio is interceptions on 2.9% of Browning's passes. Right now in 2025, Browning has been picked off on 8.5% of his throws.
That's not sustainable.
The Bengals currently also have Brett Rypien, Mike White and Sean Clifford under contract.
And rumor mills have been quick to link the Bengals to newly benched Giants QB Russell Wilson.
But for as long as Browning is starting, he's just going to have to find a way to take a little better care of the football.
