The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off a week in which they were completely embarrassed in every phase of the game. On the road against the Minnesota Vikings, they were thoroughly outplayed. In fact, the game was so lopsided that the Vikings made NFL history before the fourth quarter even began.
“The Vikings are the first team in NFL history to have… 2+ pass TD, 2+ rush TD, 2+ defensive TD, 2+ made field goals... all before the 4th quarter of a game,” Opta Stats wrote.
This was the Bengals’ first game without quarterback Joe Burrow, who is expected to miss significant time after undergoing surgery on an injured toe.
“Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will undergo toe surgery, coach Zac Taylor said on Monday, and it will sideline him a minimum of three months, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Burrow suffered the turf toe injury in the first half of Cincinnati's game Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars,” ESPN’s Ben Baby reported.
With Burrow sidelined and backup Jake Browning still unproven, the Bengals could consider making a move for a veteran quarterback. One name already being floated is Russell Wilson, who was recently benched.
“While Wilson has only looked good in one of his three outings this season, he's a very experienced starter who could potentially fill in for one of the myriad of injured quarterbacks for a game or two. Perhaps more importantly, Wilson's $2 million base salary would make him a reasonable target for virtually any team. Potential Suitor: Cincinnati Bengals,” Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox wrote.

Despite being benched, Wilson still believes he can contribute.
“For me personally, I'm not done. I've got so much belief in myself and I know what I'm capable of. I know I can help this football team if that comes up,” Wilson told the media.
Bringing in Wilson wouldn’t be a bad temporary move for the Bengals. As a veteran, he knows how to operate in high-pressure situations. And if he were to build a connection with Ja’Marr Chase, it could be dangerous for opposing defenses.
Wilson wants another shot as a starting quarterback, and a trade to Cincinnati might be exactly what gives him that opportunity.
