The Cincinnati Bengals made a rare inter-division quarterback trade, acquiring veteran Joe Flacco from the Cleveland Browns for a late-round pick swap.

Cincinnati had to do something to stabilize one of the league's worst offenses, as Jake Browning was unable to keep things afloat in the wake of Joe Burrow's injury. In three starts and one relief appearance, the three-year veteran completed 80 of 124 pass attempts for 757 yards, six touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Bengals fans hope Flacco will be able to come in and save their season, as they hope to stay in playoff contention for a possible Burrow return late in the season, but in the meantime, one franchise legend had a simple piece of advice for the 40-year-old.

Chad Johnson gives Joe Flacco advice as the Bengals' starting quarterback

Chad Johnson, formerly known as Ochocinco, took to X to share his reaction to the Browns-Bengals trade.

"Joe Flacco, throw it to Chase & Higgins."

While it's fairly blunt, the best chance Cincinnati has to get back on track after three straight losses is to get the ball into the hands of their best playmakers.

Ja'Marr Chase, last year's league leader in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns, has gotten off to a solid start thanks to two monster performances.

But his running mate, Tee Higgins, hasn't been able to get going yet in 2025, with only 13 catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns. The addition of Flacco figures to provide an uptick in that production.

While the Bengals' offensive line still figures to be an issue, especially with the athletically challenged Flacco under center, Cincinnati is hoping the trade will provide a spark for the offense and get their star players going before it's too late.
