The Chicago Bears went on the road and suffered a crushing 42-38 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in one of the highest-scoring games of the NFL season.

Chicago's offense moved the ball at will on Sunday night. Quarterback Caleb Williams tossed two touchdowns, and D'Andre Swift also added two more on the ground. However, San Francisco's offense was just as good, and the Bears couldn't get it done on the final play.

Though Chicago fell in Week 17, the Bears have already clinched the NFC North. However, their dreams of the No. 1 seed are now over.

Where Bears sit in NFC playoff picture

Chicago can't be the No.1 seed in the NFC. The winner of the 49ers and Seattle Seahawks will be the top seed in the conference and earn home-field advantage throughout the postseason, plus a first-round bye.

The Bears can still secure the No. 2 seed in Week 18 with a win over the Detroit Lions. Chicago holds the advantage over the Philadelphia Eagles due to a head-to-head win.
