The Chicago Bears now have an injury concern with running back D'Andre Swift ahead of the Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints.
According to the Bears' latest injury report on Thursday, Swift was added with a groin issue and was listed as limited. This comes one day after Swift was a full participant in practice and wasn't on the injury report.
A mid-week addition to the injury report like this usually means the player suffered the injury in practice, although that has not been confirmed in Swift's case yet.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reveals that the Bears held a walk-through and only provided an estimated injury report on Wednesday, which further adds to the idea Swift got injured during Thursday's practice.
"D'Andre Swift was limited in today's practice with a groin injury after being a full participant yesterday in what was actually a walk-through and estimated participation," Rapoport wrote.
Regardless of when the injury happened, this is bad news for Swift's Week 7 status and puts into question whether or not he's going to suit up. We'll know more on Friday, when the Bears drop their final injury report.
Swift's injury comes just days after he posted his best game of the 2025 season with 108 rushing yards, 67 receiving yards and one touchdown. Losing him will be a bad blow to Chicago's offense, although overcoming it might be easier this week versus the lowly Saints.
If Swift can't go, rookie Kyle Monangai will likely get the lion's share of the work in the backfield, as he's been the clear-cut RB2 all season long. We'll also see some Roschon Johnson.
