The Chicago Bears are in danger of not having their starting running back once again this week as D'Andre Swift is questionable to play against the New York Giants.
Swift didn't play last week because of a groin injury, but this week a personal matter leaves his status in question.
Swift was limited on Wednesday and then logged a full practice on Thursday before not taking part on Friday because the personal issue and drawing a questionable tag.
Here's what we know about Swift's chances of suiting up this week against the Giants.
Is D'Andre Swift playing today?
Yes, Swift is expected to play in Week 10, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
"Bears RB D’Andre Swift, listed as questionable for Sunday due a groin injury and personal reasons, is expected to play vs. The Giants, per source," Schefter reported.
D'Andre Swift start or sit advice
Swift ranks as RB12 in fantasy points per game, so he's an every week high-end RB2 going into Week 10.
The only concern this week is that head coach Ben Johnson hinted he could ride the hot hand between Swift and rookie Kyle Monangai, who exploded for 176 yards on the ground in place of Swift last week.
“(Running backs coach Eric Bieniemy) has got a really good feel for guys as they’re rolling. I believe in a guy having the hot hand. So, if one guy if he’s feeling it and giving us a spark, we might lean on that a little bit longer. We've got a really good room," Johnson said.
We'll see if Johnson uses this strategy, but for now we need to see it to believe it. Until then, Swift should be locked into lineups, especially in matchup against a Giants defense that cedes the sixth-most fantasy points per game to backs.
Verdict: Start
Kyle Monangai start or sit advice
While Monangai could see a bigger role with Swift in the lineup based on what Johnson said above about the hot hand, we'll actually have to see that happen before trusting Monangai in lineups when Swift is active.
In games Swift has played this season, Monangai is only averaging 6.4 touches per game. That's simply not enough work to insert him into lineups this week.
Verdict: Sit
