The Chicago Bears are reportedly adding an edge rusher.

According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, the Bears are acquiring Cleveland Browns edge rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. The Athletic's Dianna Russini adds that the deal includes a swap of sixth- and seventh-round picks, with the Browns obviously receiving the former.

"The Bears are trading for Browns pass rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, sources tell NFL on CBS," Jones reported.

A former first-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, Tryon-Shoyinka's career hasn't panned out as hoped.

He tallied 15 sacks over four seasons with the Bucs before he left in free agency to join the Browns in 2025. His best season with the Bucs came in 2023, when he recorded a career-high five sacks.

Through eight games this season, Tryon-Shoyinka hasn't started any contests, has only played 31 snaps, and he has yet to sack the quarterback or even record a pressure.

The Bears did have a need upfront thanks to injuries, but this acquisition doesn't figure to move the needle as much as the Bears need, if at all.

Chicago general manager Ryan Poles still has a few hours left to make a move as of this writing and is going to have to do a lot more if he wants to beef up his defensive front.
