Caleb Williams makes NFL history against Cleveland image

Today, the Chicago Bears took on the Cleveland Browns on a frozen tundra of a field. The temperature dipped to 8°, and with wind chill, it felt like -6°. As Ben Johnson said, “It’s Bear weather."

Oftentimes in weather like this, it’s hardest on the QB. Tough to grip the ball and tough to get the same zip on your passes. In the first half of the game against Cleveland, Caleb yet again proved why he’s the man in Chicago. 

Williams was dissecting the Browns' secondary like a surgeon. He spread the wealth between rookies Luther Burden III and Coleston Loveland while also throwing a TD to the veteran in the WR room, DJ Moore. 

Over the course of Caleb picking the Browns apart, he made some NFL history in the process. 

Caleb Williams’ efficiency sets an NFL record 

One knock on Caleb Williams through his young career is that his completion percentage and accuracy could undoubtedly be improved to this point. While his completion percentage and accuracy aren’t totally connected, it is something to monitor. 

With this record, though, Williams is proving that it is always better to throw the ball away than to toss it into tight coverage and throw interceptions. 

Caleb Williams’ TD to DJ Moore in the first half was his 1,000th career attempt. Through 1,000 passing attempts, Williams has only thrown 12 interceptions, which is the fewest thrown through 1,000 attempts in NFL history. 

His ability to take care of the ball is a match made in heaven with Ben Johnson’s ultra-efficient offense, and if he keeps this up, he is set to make this team a problem for the next however many 1,000 passing attempts to come.
