The Bears continue to rebuild. Chicago made great strides last season drafting quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze to help turn around the offense. Chicago then continued in this new era, firing head coach Matt Eberflus and replacing him with offensive mastermind Ben Johnson.
The ex-Lions offensive coordinator has shown a lot of creativity with his offensive game plan and play calls. Chicago retained veteran wide receiver DJ Moore and the young Odunze, but lost Keenan Allen to free agency.
The Bears made sure to keep getting Williams more weapons, though. In the first round, Chicago selected tight end Colston Loveland, and in the second it replaced Allen with Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III.

After the selection of Burden, here is a look at Chicago's projected wide receiver depth chart.
Bears WR Depth Chart
Position | Player Name |
1. | DJ Moore |
2. | Rome Odunze |
3. | Luther Burden III |
4. | Devin Duvernay |
5. | Tyler Scott |
6. | Olamide Zaccheaus |
DJ Moore
Moore has been in the NFL for seven years, two of which have been in Chicago. As Williams adjusted to the NFL and the Bears tried to find the right game plan for their team, the No. 1 wide receiver in the offense took a step back. Moore finished with 966 yards and six touchdowns last year, down from 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns from 2023.
Moore is in his prime and should continue to be a productive weapon for Williams and the Bears as the second-year signal-caller takes a step forward in a more creative offense.
Rome Odunze
Odunze spent his rookie season as the third wide receiver in the Chicago offense behind Moore and Allen. He brought in 54 of his 101 targets for 734 yards and three touchdowns. Odunze should be able to take a step forward and be the team's No. 2 wide receiver, especially as Burden gets adjusted to the NFL.
Luther Burden III
In the new era of NIL and transfer portal, Burden deserves some credit. He arrived in Missouri in 2022 and spent all three seasons with the Tigers. Burden totaled 2,263 yards and 21 touchdowns over 38 games. He had his breakout season in 2023, finishing with 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns over 13 games.
Devin Duvernay, Tyler Scott, Olamide Zaccheaus
This trio of wide receivers will likely play more of a role on special teams. Still, Johnson should be able to come up with different formations and plays that get them involved. Duvernay was most recently with the Jaguars, but he played limited snaps in 13 games. Scott was on the Bears, but he only had one reception last season. Zaccheaus played for the Commanders in 2024, posting 506 yards and three touchdowns on 45 receptions while playing in every game.

Bears-Panthers 2023 trade finally complete
In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Bears held the No. 1 pick. With Justin Fields still on the roster and Chicago wanting to give him one more chance as the quarterback, the franchise made a blockbuster deal with Carolina. The Panthers traded Moore and four draft picks for the No. 1 overall selection. The final piece in the deal was a second-round pick this year, which the Bears used to select Burden.
Carolina used the No. 1 overall pick that year to select Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
