The Chicago Bears made the NFC Divisional round, Caleb Williams broke out into a superstar at quarterback, and Ben Johnson looks like one of the best head coaches in the NFL.
This season was a massive success, and now, Ryan Poles will have the job of constructing a roster that can contend for a Super Bowl next season. One of the first big decisions he'll need to make is on wide receiver DJ Moore.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell revealed insight into the possibility of a Moore trade, and specifically, what it could bring to Chicago. With Moore's future in Chicago uncertain, the Bears could use the $24.5 million and mid-round pick a Moore trade could bring.
Bears trading DJ Moore could net $24.5M, mid-round pick
"A middle-round pick would be a realistic return," Barnwell writes on a Moore trade, "but the real benefit might be freeing up $24.5 million in 2026 cash, which would allow Johnson and Poles to realign the offense in the coach's preferred vision."
The Bears, if they trade away Moore, could save $24.5 million in cash this offseason. Add on that they could get a mid-round draft pick, likely in the 3rd or 4th round (plus more) range, the Bears could have a lot of extra room to work with this offseason.
Change is coming for some parts of the roster, and moving on from Moore makes a ton of sense for the Bears. But the biggest impact won't be the actual return, but what the $24.5 million in savings could bring to the rest of the roster.

It could be used to strengthen the offensive line, bolster the pass rush, extend some of the veteran free-agent defensive backs, or even add more offensive firepower for Williams and Johnson.
Regardless of how Poles and Johnson use the newfound money if they trade Moore, it's a move that makes too much sense not to do this offseason.
Adding a draft pick, freeing up $24.5 million, and not hurting the offenses bottom-line thanks to Colston Loveland, Rome Odunze, and Luther Burden makes this possible trade a no-brainer for the Bears if they find a taker.
The cash savings combined with the draft pick return make the potential of a Moore trade one that would make a ton of sense for the Bears this offseason. BEars fans shouldn't be surprised if by the start of next season, Moore is on a new team.
