The Chicago Bears are making progress in terms of becoming a more consistent football team. They are 2-2, fresh off a bye week, and take on the Washington Commanders in Monday Night Football this week.
Head Coach Ben Johnson has made it clear in many statements this week that the offense still has things to figure out, but the offensive line looks much better in pass protection of quarterback Caleb Williams.
One of the Bears' biggest issues this season has been trying to stop the run. This trade idea clears that issue up, but it would cost the Bears one of their offensive weapons.
Mock trade sends D.J. Moore to the Titans for Jeffery Simmons
Erik Lambert of "Sports Mockery.com" recently struck up a player-for-player trade idea that would benefit both the Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears:
"Wide receiver D.J. Moore for Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons."
Moore has just 16 catches this season for 173 yards and a touchdown. He's become the No.2 receiver option for Caleb Williams behind Rome Odunze.
Jeffery Simmons is one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL. He's made three Pro Bowls since 2021, and already has 3.5 sacks. The Titans could also be in the market for another weapon for Cam Ward, and D.J. Moore would check the box.
This deal works for Chicago because it would clear up a major need for a run stuffer, and they wouldn't give up any draft capital in the process. Simmons' cap hit is also about $4 million less than Moore's, which could potentially open up the idea of another trade for the Bears.
Now, Bears fans may not want to see Moore go, but he's shown signs of slower production since 2023, when he recorded 1364 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He didn't reach the 1,000-yard mark last season, and isn't on pace to get there this season either.
