The Chicago Bears lost an overtime thriller to the Los Angeles Rams, and while it was a crushing loss, the promise Caleb Williams showed in his first year with Ben Johnson is enough to believe in the Bears as contenders going forward.
The offseason is going to be a long one for the Bears, as there are plenty of difficult decisions to make on the horizon for this Bears team, especially on defense. But the most interesting player to watch is DJ Moore.
The star wide receiver might not be long for Chicago, as ESPN's Ben Solak predicts the Bears will trade Moore this offseason. Such a move wouldn't be that surprising, especially amid the questionable effort he's shown at times in his Bears tenure.
Bears' DJ Moore predicted to get traded following effort questions amid Rams loss
"The Bears will trade wide receiver DJ Moore, as the future of the position seems set with Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III," Solak writes. "Most of Moore's money is tied up in salary, not bonuses, which makes it palatable for Chicago to trade him even with four years left on his contract."
Solak's prediction isn't far-fetched, as the Bears already have two strong wide receivers in Odunze and Burden on the roster, and saving money by trading Moore could allow them to address their defensive free-agents.
But a trade of Moore would also not be met with resistance, thanks to some efforts over the last few years. His effort on a key play in the Rams' playoff game is getting a lot of attention.
This angle makes DJ Moore look even worse.

He didn’t even give up on his route at a certain point, it was zero effort the entire route.
Really trying to rap my head around this one 🤔 https://t.co/D70uolTNfc pic.twitter.com/cwmkjY5HzL
On the interception Williams threw in overtime, Moore was seen seemingly jogging the route and drifting upfield. If he were running harder and cutting it off flatter, Moore might've, at worst, batted the interception down for an incompletion.
This post from SM Highlights on Twitter/x called out Moore for his lack of effort on the play, and many fans in the comments agreed and called his effort into question.
While Moore has been a great player at times for the Bears, the combination of questionable effort and the presence of Odunze and Burden, along with the potential cap savings by trading him, makes Moore's future in Chicago very uncertain.
With some of the questions over the last two years about Moore's effort on certain plays, trading the veteran wide receiver wouldn't be that far-fetched for the Bears this offseason.
Moore might not be long for the Bears roster for a multitude of reasons, and one of which might be the effort he displayed on what wound up being the game-losing play for the Bears in overtime.
