The Chicago Bears lost in a thrilling game to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17, and while they've still already clinched the NFC North, their seed could change in Week 18.
But, following the loss, there were two major injuries to focus on. Luther Burden, fortunately, is going to be okay after going down on the final play of the game.
But, unfortunately, the same cannot be said for linebacker Noah Sewell. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Bears standout linebacker is going to miss a lot of time.
Bears' LB Noah Sewell gets brutal injury update
"Bears LB Noah Sewell, who has been a key part of the defense, especially with all the injuries to the position, is believed to have torn his Achilles, sources say," Rapoport reports. "He'll have an MRI to confirm."
This is a brutal update for the standout Bears linebacker, and not that it could get much worse, but it comes a week ahead of his matchup in Week 18 against his brother, Penei Sewell, and the Detroit Lions.
Sewell's loss is a big one for the Bears, especially since a torn Achilles will linger into the start of next season as well, with how late this injury is.

Losing any player for any amount of time this late in the season is a brutal diagnosis, but this update on Sewell, after being carted off the field, is a tough way for his 2025 season to come to an end.
This season, Sewell has 54 tackles, one forced fumble, three tackles for loss, and is coming into his own in his third season in the NFL at age 23.
He's now going to have to get on a long road to recovery, which will put part of his 2026 season at risk. If the MRI confirms their worst fears, then Sewell will miss the rest of the 2025 season, all of the playoffs, and potentially even some of 2026.
This is a brutal injury update for a standout young Bears linebacker, especially right before the playoffs. Tremaine Edmunds, T.J. Edwards, and the rest of the linebacker room will have to step up in his absence as the 2025 season rolls along.
