The Chicago Bears aren’t being talked about like a rebuilding team anymore, and it’s obvious that they’ll go out and continue to add talent when the offseason arrives.
Amid a strong season under first-year head coach Ben Johnson, Chicago has put itself in a different tier. That’s why the Bears being mentioned in conversations involving elite talent shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Dharya Sharma of AllSportsPeople recently connected Chicago to Raiders star Maxx Crosby, listing the Bears as one of the most logical destinations if Las Vegas ever explores a trade.
“All 32 teams would relish a chance to add Crosby to their roster, but the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers are the three most logical landing spots. Crosby wants to win, and those three franchises give him a chance to do that... The same goes for Chicago, who have had a fantastic season under first-year head coach Ben Johnson. Crosby would be an electric addition to the young team and make them juggernauts in the NFC North,” he wrote.
The Bears probably looked at this year as a season to hopefully improve. Instead, they won the toughest division in football and look like real contenders.
An edge rusher of Crosby’s caliber would immediately become the focal point of the defense and force offenses to game-plan differently every week. He’d be the best player moved this upcoming offseason if it happened.
The price would be huge, but why shouldn’t they consider it?
