The Chicago Bears surely don't choose their undrafted free agent signings based on their names.
But in the case of two guys Chicago signed on Saturday night, the names couldn't have hurt.
Check out these two names:
- Power Echols
- Major Burns
Yeah, especially for a pair of defensive players, those are pretty great.
Echols is a linebacker out of North Carolina. His two best seasons were 2022 and 2023, with 103 tackles in each. He also had an interception in each of his four UNC seasons.
He also wasn't shy. The uniform Echols wore at North Carolina: 23, kind of a notable one for the Tar Heels athletic world.

Burns is a defensive back who went to Georgia out of high school but then spent four seasons at LSU.
He, too, starred in 2023 with 93 tackles. His 2024 was bumpy with just 47 tackles, although five went for loss.
Echols and Burns are good possibilities signed quickly by Chicago after the draft. They each played at big-time college programs, which prepares them to have a chance of sticking in the NFL.
They'll be walking into the building with good mojo just from getting the chance to introduce themselves to others as Power Echols and Major Burns.
From there, it's up to them to turn those sweet names into production on the field to try and earn an NFL job.
