The Chicago Bears enter their regular-season finale against the Detroit Lions with a chance to clinch the NFC's number 2 seed and guarantee home-field advantage through the Divisional round.

A huge reason why the Bears have been able to get to this point is thanks to Ben Johnson coming in and making the offense run at a high level all year. Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, Luther Burden III, Colston Loveland, and Caleb Williams have all benefited from Johnson.

According to NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Moore's future is one to keep in mind this offseason. Amid a fan question, Breer revealed an update on Moore's trade rumors ahead of this offseason. Fortunately for Caleb Williams, the update is good news.

Bears' trade rumor on DJ Moore is good news for offense

"To me, the comfort level of a young quarterback is paramount, and Moore's certainly a factor in that," Breer writes. "I think to move off Moore, you'd have to have a better option in front of you."

While Breer doesn't outright say that Moore is staying or going this offseason, this note points to the Bears' unlikely move on from Moore if they don't have better options to play over him.

Odunze and Burden are good receivers, but they aren't demonstrably better than Moore to the point that replacing him makes the most sense.

He's set to make $24.5 million next season, and while that's not cheap, the Bears have Williams on a rookie deal, and their other receivers are also on cheap contracts.

They could look to save money on Moore and improve the defense, but the Bears shouldn't jump the gun and deplete Williams' cast of receivers in 2026 and beyond.

Giving the young quarterback quality weapons is a recipe for success, and for now, with the rookie deals on the roster, the Bears can afford the $24.5 million contract of Moore.

He is 29 years old and has been a clutch option for Williams all year. On the season, Moore has 49 catches for 671 yards and six touchdowns. While not elite numbers, he's still a quality option for the Bears' passing offense.

This trade rumor on Moore from Breer doesn't seem to indicate that the Bears are ready to move on from Moore just yet. While it could be a decision made, it would only be if the Bears have a better option ready to replace him.

Overall, the Bears won't reduce their offense if they do move on from Moore; it would be to facilitate the addition of another receiver to the offense to take his place.

Williams and Bears fans can rest easy, as Moore likely isn't going anywhere, and if he does, they will be getting a quality replacement as part of that move.
