The Chicago Bears got their first win of the 2025 NFL season with a 31-14 result over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at Soldier Field. Moreover, it was a standout performance that Bears quarterback Caleb Williams needed.

Williams completed 19 of 28 passes for 298 passing yards and four touchdowns against the Cowboys' defense as that unite is led by former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus, who is now Dallas' defensive coordinator.

The USC product connected well with his receivers all game, finding openings in the Cowboys' coverage and moving the offense efficiently down the field.

Bears' Caleb Williams didn't play with a point to prove

Getting an opportunity to get one over a former head coach is motivating for any NFL player. However, that's not what was fueling Williams to go out there and perform like he did against the Cowboys.

"I don't think it really necessarily matters who when you're able to have a game as effective as we were able to have on offense," Williams said postgame (h/t Marquee Sports Network). "It feels great, to be honest, whether it was Matt or it was any other defensive coordinator, Flow, or anybody else that we played, or anybody else that we're going to play.

"When you're able to go out and score a bunch of points on offense, it's fun, obviously, because you put in so much hard work and you want to be able to go out there and execute the plays that are called. That's what happened today."

The Bears will now look to get to .500 when they face the Las Vegas Raiders. Both teams are 1-2 and will be looking to avoid falling to 1-3 and with Williams playing now with confidence, they can take advantage of a Silver and Black team that has lost two straight after their Week 1 win over the New England Patriots
