TL;DR

  • Bears are 8-1 in their last 9 games and 8-3 for the season.
  • Chicago leads the NFC North by one game over Packers and Lions.
  • Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon are back practicing, boosting the secondary.
  • Bears defense is already league leader in interceptions and turnovers.

It's a fantastic period to be a Bears supporter. Following another victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, their record now stands at 8-1 in their last 9 contests and 8-3 for the season.

Chicago presently holds the top position in the NFC North, enjoying a one-game advantage over both the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. Their remaining schedule is expected to be challenging. They are slated to face the Packers two times, the Lions one more time, and also the Eagles and 49ers

Fortunately for Chicago, that challenging schedule appears to be significantly eased by the comeback of two premier defensive players. They might be back as early as Friday when they face the Eagles.

Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon were fully engaged in practice.

Facing a challenging stretch to conclude their season, the Bears will play Philadelphia on Friday. While their linebacker corps will probably remain depleted, the secondary is set to receive a significant reinforcement.

Chicago's injury report on Wednesday indicated that two players, Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon, were fully engaged in both practices this week.

This news is a godsend for Bears fans.

Despite missing their two top secondary players, they've become the league leaders in interceptions and total turnovers. The combination of Johnson and Gordon at safety, alongside Kevin Byard and the surprisingly excellent Nahshon Wright, will be formidable.

With six contests remaining, they have time to adjust as a complete team. It's possible that under Dennis Allen's guidance, Chicago's defense might perform exceptionally well by the season's conclusion.
