Panthers legend Cam Newton teases NFL comeback with surprising retirement detail image

Cam Newton isn't retired.

That's a detail he made very clear on his new 4th&1 podcast, with the Carolina Panthers legendary QB focused on Philip Rivers' return from retirement to play for the Indianapolis Colts at 44 years old.

"I did not, and will not, because of an opportunity like this," Newton said.

Newton brought some serious energy for this whole segment, with some funny one-liners throughout.

He explained why the Colts may not have wanted him:

"I know why the Indianapolis Colts didn't sign me. Their newest member, Sauce Gardner, is wearing number 1."

He went on to share what he's really looking for in an NFL comeback:

"I'm open for business, but I want to be with who really want me."

Newton also laughed at the idea that teams had just forgotten about him.

"Did Philip Rivers send any type of signs that he was available?" Newton wondered aloud.

He also made a plug for his Snapchat account -- "Have you followed my Snapchat?" That's where Newton posts his intense workout videos, which he's implying are proof that he's ready to play again.

Newton last played in 2021, when he lost all five starts he made for the Panthers.

He spent 10 of his 11 seasons with the Panthers, along with the 2020 season with the Patriots.

Newton is one of the greatest dual-threat QBs of all time and won the 2015 MVP award.

He's 36 years old now and is one of the most outspoken former NFL players. Would a team want him? It's definitely hard to say.
