The Carolina Panthers have an injury concern at the running back position with Chuba Hubbard.

Hubbard popped up on the team's injury report in Week 4 with a calf issue, but he was able to play through the injury. However, Hubbard appeared to have suffered a setback with the injury and was unable to go in Week 5.

Looking ahead to Week 6, it isn't looking good for Hubbard, who has not practiced on Wednesday or Thursday to start the week.

Here's the latest on Hubbard for Friday.

UPDATE: Hubbard has officially been ruled out for Week 6.

END OF UPDATE

According to Joe Person of The Athletic, Hubbard is not practicing on Friday, which almost ensures he will not suit up in Week 6.

The good news for Hubbard is that he showed progress in his rehab on Thursday, as the veteran back was able to do some running on a side field during the session.

Based on that, we would anticipate Hubbard returning in Week 7, but that has not been confirmed.

With Hubbard out again, Rico Dowdle will take the reins of the backfield for Carolina once again. Dowdle is coming off a career-best performance after breaking loose for over 200 yards on the ground.

Dowdle will have a little extra motivation this week, also, as he's squaring off against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys.

"They got to buckle up," Dowdle said of the Cowboys, via ESPN. "I think they know for sure. They didn't keep me there for five years for no reason."

The Cowboys and Panthers will fasten their seatbelts and do battle on Sunday, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET.
