Why it is now or never for Bills' Josh Allen in Super Bowl quest

The Buffalo Bills will enter the playoffs as a team that is hard to get a read on.

On one hand, they have Josh Allen, who can put the team on his back and beat any team in football.

Conversely, the offense has shown it can stutter, and the defense can be gashed routinely on the ground. Still, there's more than enough weapons to suggest Buffalo is one of the favorites in the tournament. Or so we thought.

In a piece for NFL.com, several writers offered playoff predictions for each game, and when it came to a "sleeper" team that could make everyone look stupid, Ali Bhanpuri named Buffalo.

“Two words: Josh Allen,” Bhanpuri wrote. “No disrespect to any of the other QBs in the AFC playoff bracket, but none has proven to be as dangerous as the reigning MVP when the calendar flips to January. The only thing that’s consistently prevented him from a shot at a Lombardi Trophy has been Patrick Mahomes -- and Allen doesn’t have to worry about the three-time champ in this year’s tournament.”

Are the Bills really a playoff "sleeper"

Personally, I wouldn't call them a sleeper.

No one would be surprised if they rolled through the playoffs and won the Super Bowl.

But what makes the Bills hard to trust is that, at the same time, no one would be surprised if they were one-and-done in Jacksonville.

The pressure Allen and the franchise are under during this playoff journey is huge. There's no Mahomes, and a host of unproven quarterbacks in this sort of environment in the AFC.

This should be Allen's time to shine.

The reigning MVP has all the tools needed, including his Superman cape.

And he won't have to go through Mahomes this time, either.
