Why Damar Hamlin isn't playing right now for Bills in playoffs with injury news image

Damar Hamlin remains one of the most well-known names nationally on the Buffalo Bills' roster.

His inspirational comeback from collapsing on an NFL field has made him a notable presence whenever the Bills play in a big game.

The Bills open the postseason on Sunday in Jacksonville against the Jaguars.

Hamlin won't be out there.

Why isn't Damar Hamlin playing?

Damar Hamlin is injured.

Hamlin remains out with a pectoral injury. He had a small chance of returning in the Wild Card Round, but by Friday, the Bills had officially ruled him out.

The safety hasn't played since Week 6.

Even before his injury, Hamlin's role had declined. A season ago, the Bills didn't trust Cole Bishop, then a rookie, with a full allotment of safety snaps.

This year, Bishop has seized a starting role, which boxed Hamlin out from playing very much.

Hamlin is still a respected member of the Bills roster who pitches in occasionally on defense and also on special teams, at least when he's healthy.

But if Hamlin wants to play again this season, he'll need the Bills to win at least one game and maybe more so he can be fully healed and back on the field.
