The Buffalo Bills' offseason just got a lot more interesting after the team fired head coach Sean McDermott on Monday.
Now, Buffalo will begin its offseason by searching for a new head coach, and after that the team will have to decide what to do with its pending free agents and some players who are under contract.
In an article naming trade candidates for the Bills, Sports Illustrated's Mike Kadlick named wide receiver Keon Coleman and left tackle Dion Dawkins as players who could be moved.
"A pair of potential trade candidates that come to mind for the Bills are wide receiver Keon Coleman and left tackle Dion Dawkins," Kadlick wrote. "Coleman, a 22-year-old former second-round pick, has yet to make the kind of impact Buffalo likely envisioned when it selected him 33rd overall in the 2024 draft—hauling in just 67 passes for less than 1,000 yards over his first two seasons. Dawkins, meanwhile, is entering his age 32 season and carries a 2026 cap hit of over $24 million."
We could definitely see Coleman getting traded.
His two years in the NFL have been a major disappointment. After a quiet rookie season, Coleman was expected to take a step forward in 2025, but instead he took two steps back.
Coleman desperately needs a change of scenery and we could see Buffalo pulling off a trade with a team for another player who is in a similar situation. The Bills could also deal Coleman for a draft pick, but it would likely be a mid-Day 3 selection considering his stock is in the toilet.
While we understand the concern with Dawkins' age and cap number, we do not see the Bills unloading the veteran offensive lineman.
Dawkins was still good in 2025. Granted he did give up six sacks, but his Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade of 81.5 was elite.
Good left tackles are hard to find and Dawkins still qualifies as such. If anything, maybe the Bills can get Dawkins to restructure and take less to help their cap situation out.
