The Buffalo Bills are facing a wide receiver shortage.

Except there's one guy everyone forgot about that might be back at the perfect time: Curtis Samuel.

Samuel has been with the Bills for a couple seasons now, but he's missed much of this campaign with an elbow injury.

His recovery has been timed perfectly. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Samuel was listed as a full participant at practice.

He's currently in his activation window to return from Injured Reserve. But a couple full practices to start the week suggest Samuel may be ready to get back on the field for gameday.

The Bills play Saturday, and if Samuel has a full practice Thursday, they could choose to make that move and call him up.

It might be the best option available to Buffalo, relative to practice squad call-ups Mecole Hardman, Kristian Wilkerson or Stephen Gosnell.

Samuel has a strong pedigree from his days at Ohio State and with the Carolina Panthers.

His NFL career has underwhelmed a bit, but he's still a natural playmaker.

The Bills currently only have three healthy receivers on the active roster: Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Brandin Cooks.

They're down Joshua Palmer, Tyrell Shavers and Gabe Davis due to injury.

Samuel probably can't be the hero, but he's also potentially better than some of the alternatives. His apparent return couldn't have come at a better time.
