If it felt like Ray Davis was returning kickoffs a long way basically every time he got a chance this season, that's because he was.
The second-year running back didn't see much action on offense as James Cook led the NFL in rushing yards. But Davis found himself a different role.
As the Bills' kick returner, Davis was electric. He averaged 30.4 yards per kick return, which was tops in the National Football League.

That 30.4 yards per return mark is also a franchise record for the Bills.
Ray Davis finished the 2025 season as the NFL's leading kick returner with an average of 30.4 yards.

Davis only ranked seventh in total return yardage, because a number of players got many more returns than he did.
The Bills often have Ty Johnson back deep with Davis, so he gets some return action, too. Early in the season, they also used Brandon Codrington on returns before cutting him.
Davis did return one kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown.
This special season isn't done yet for Davis, either. The Bills will be counting on him to make a difference in the return game in the playoffs, too.
