The Buffalo Bills have made their decision.
Joe Brady is going to be the new head coach, taking over for the fired Sean McDermott. Brady was the offensive coordinator, and he's been promoted to lead the next era of the Bills.
The news was reported on Tuesday morning by ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
In the end, Bills owner Terry Pegula chose not to leave the organization and instead just moved Brady up a spot on the metaphorical depth chart.
And in reality, there's one reason why: Josh Allen.

The reality is that this hire was always about Allen.
The Bills fired McDermott because he couldn't get the Bills to the Super Bowl, even with a generational QB like Allen.
Then, Buffalo made clear Allen would sit in on the interview process for the new head coach. Clearly, the Bills wanted Allen on board with the new guy.
So although Allen hasn't spoken publicly about the process, it's clear Brady has his stamp of approval.
Brady has run the offense since taking over a few seasons ago for Ken Dorsey, and he's been a big part of enhancing the run game with James Cook.

Allen clearly has a good working relationship with Brady and believes they can do good things together, or he wouldn't have signed off on this move.
For years now, Allen has gotten an up-close look at how Brady operates.
When faced with the choice of who has the best chance to lead this team from the sideline to a Lombardi Trophy, Allen recognized Brady as the answer.
And with Allen's implied stamp of approval comes the most important hire in this era of the Bills.
