Josh Allen ran off the field after second down.

The Buffalo Bills' QB had just gotten hit in the face with a hand in his helmet.

It wasn't immediately clear what happened, but Allen was quickly surrounded by trainers on the sideline.

In the meantime, Mitchell Trubisky jogged onto the field and threw a ridiculous dime to Joshua Palmer for a third-down conversion.

Josh Allen injury update

Allen appeared to have a bloody nose on the sideline. It's not clear whether it was broken or if anything else was wrong. Trainers were putting different gauze-like objects into his nose.

Trubisky remained in the game through the end of the first quarter.

The trainers continued to work on Allen as it went to a quarter break.

Allen did return to the game to start the second quarter, with some stuffing in his left nostril.

Trubisky is the only other QB on the Bills' active roster.

Shane Buchele is a quarterback on the practice squad.
