The Buffalo Bills have spent all offseason handing out contract extensions to respective stars. Khalil Shakir, Greg Rousseau, Terrel Bernard, Christian Benford, and Josh Allen all received extensions this offseason. One player who didn't, though, was running back James Cook.
The Bills' star running back made it known he wants $15 million per year during an Instagram live earlier this offseason. General manager Brandon Beane said at the NFL owners meetings that conversations on a Cook extension were shelved. The NFL's leader in rushing touchdowns didn't attend OTAs, but did show up for mandatory mini-camp. When asked why he joined his Bills teammates, Cook was very blunt.
"I like my money," Cook said.
Should Cook had missed minicamp, he could have been fined. For a player who is looking to get more money, it wouldn't have made sense to cost himself even more cash.
