The Buffalo Bills, after yet another playoff failure, have done what nearly the entire league has done this offseason -- they've fired their head coach.

Sean McDermott, after nine years in the big chair, is out, with general manager Brandon Beane now taking over major control of the football department.

It was clear that change had to happen, and for most, it should have been both McDermott and Beane that moved on, but now, the Bills will be on the lookout for a new head coach for Josh Allen.

But what really went into the firing of McDermott? ESPN's Bills writer Alaina Getzenberg knows the reason.

"He didn't finish the job," Getzenberg wrote. "In a results business, McDermott was incredibly successful, winning 10 or more games in seven straight seasons, the longest active streak in the NFL. Beane and McDermott together were not accomplishing the combined goal in leading the football side of the team, and that's winning the franchise's first Super Bowl or even reaching the big game."

Who will be Bills next HC?

The one thing that I think the franchise has done here is that they wouldn't have moved on from McDermott without a plan of attack on who they want to be their next head coach.

Given the backlash online and even from some players, the Bills' front office has to get this decision right. After all, Allen isn't getting any younger.

Which way the franchise goes will be fascinating to watch. But surely the Bills get a coach in who is going to get the most out of Allen, right? Does that mean Joe Brady gets a promotion?

Or does someone like Mike McDaniel get a look in?

Either way, this is a monumental move, and Buffalo's next one has to be right, because you don't make a move like this unless you're serious about the trajectory of your franchise.
