The Buffalo Bills lost Michael Hoecht to a torn Achilles in their win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9. Hoecht made his team debut in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers, registering 1.5 sacks and making an immediate impact following his six-game suspension for PEDs. Hoecht had 0.5 sacks on Patrick Mahomes in the win before suffering his injury.

Buffalo didn't waste time adding depth to their defensive line following Hoecht going down, as the Bills have signed Phidarian Mathis to their active roster.

Mathis was drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders and was signed to the Bills practice squad earlier this season. He has appeared in two games for Buffalo in 2025, and was officially signed from the practice squad to the active roster on Wednesday.

The Bills take on the Dolphins on Sunday, as they look for yet another season sweep of Miami.
