The Buffalo Bills will take on the Houston Texans in their second Thursday night game of the season, the first of which they defeated the Miami Dolphins 28-21.

Over the course of the season, though, the Bills have had struggles at wide receiver. Most recently, the Bills made Keon Coleman a healthy scratch due to disciplinary reasons. Even so, Coleman has been a big disappointment in 2025.

This is why Bills Mafia was so disgruntled when general manager Brandon Beane failed to acquire a top receiver at the trade deadline. However, Buffalo now has the chance to add a proven deep threat who surprisingly became available.

The New Orleans Saints and wide receiver Brandin Cooks agreed to part ways, with New Orleans granting Cooks his release. The veteran deep threat was a name that many thought would be traded at the deadline, but nothing came to be. For the Bills, this would be a low risk, high reward type of move. Cooks is a proven deep threat across several teams, most recently with the Dallas Cowboys where he caught 11 touchdowns across 2023 and 2024.

Worst case scenario for the Bills, they end up with a situation similar to Amari Cooper in 2024 where he doesn't necessarily meet the level of production that was expected, but he isn't a net negative, either. Considering the need for field stretchers, Cooks would be a smart addition.
