The Buffalo Bills are coming off a massive win over the Cincinnati Bengals, improving to 9-4 on the season and staying alive in the race for the AFC East crown with the 11-2 New England Patriots. Buffalo will face those same Patriots in Week 15 when they travel to Foxborough. Should the Bills lose to New England again, the Patriots will clinch the division. With a win, the Bills pull within a game of the division lead.
Ahead of the high-stakes contest, Buffalo had a surprise injury pop up for one of their top players.
"Bills cornerback Christian Benford was in a walking boot on his left foot in the locker room after practice on Thursday," Matt Parrino reports. "He was present and taking part in practice during media viewing early portion. He’s listed on today’s injury report with a toe injury and was limited."
Benford is coming off one of the best two-game stretches for a defensive back in recent NFL history. He had an interception and a scoop-and-score against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Buffalo's 26-7 in in Week 13. The following week, he picked off Joe Burrow and ran it back for a touchdown, which proved to be the game-winning score for the Bills.
Benford is a defensive piece the Bills absolutely cannot afford to lose in the postseason. He is their best cornerback, and arguably their best defender altogether. He was injured early on in the AFC Championship Game this past January, which proved to be pivotal, as Xavier Worthy had his way against Kaiir Elam and helped the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Bills. Considering how thin the Bills are in the secondary, Benford's health is of the utmost importance.
