The Buffalo Bills have been one of the best teams in the NFL for the last half-decade, getting to the brink of a Super Bowl berth, but coming up short four times in losses to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills brought in a player very familiar with the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes this offseason, signing Pro Bowl edge rusher Joey Bosa to a one-year deal. Considering how good Bosa has proven to be when he is healthy, this was a risk worth taking for Buffalo, who also signed Greg Rousseau to a four-year extension.
Due to Bosa's injury history, he's become a very big wildcard in terms of how many games he'll play. Because of that, PFF labeled the former first-round pick as the Bills' biggest X-factor for the 2025 season.
"Injuries seemed to have caught up with Joey Bosa a bit in 2024, as he ranked just 71st among edge defenders with a 61.1 PFF overall grade," PFF writes. "That was more than 10 points lower than his previous worst mark in 2018. When he was at his best, Bosa was a top-10 edge defender in the league. Buffalo is hoping he can recapture that form after signing him this offseason."
If Bosa does remain healthy and is a disruptor off the edge, he very well could be the piece that gets Buffalo over the edge with his presence.
