Brian Daboll rumor has former Bills' OC down to 2 coaching hire choices image

Brian Daboll is narrowing down his options.

The former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator and New York Giants head coach is a sought-after candidate this offseason.

He's been in the running for the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator job, as well as the same position with the Tennessee Titans.

And now that Sean McDermott has been fired in Buffalo, Daboll is also up for the head coach spot there.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini is reporting that Daboll is already chopping his list down.

"The Eagles are conducting their offensive coordinator search with the understanding that Brian Daboll wants the Bills’ head coaching job," Russini wrote on X on Wednesday morning. "If he doesn’t land it, Daboll is expected to wind up in Tennessee as the offensive coordinator for Cam Ward and the Titans, per sources."

Daboll had worked with current Eagles QB Jalen Hurts at Alabama, so that felt like a possible connection, but it seems like Philly is going in a different direction.

The Bills appear to be seeking an offensive-minded head coach to pair with Josh Allen after the superstar's entire NFL career so far was spent with the defensively oriented McDermott.

Daboll isn't necessarily the favorite, but it's hard to say this early in the process. He's already lined up for an interview, so he'll make a real run at the gig.

If Daboll doesn't get the Buffalo job, it's not a bad backup plan to get to work with an exciting young QB like Ward in Tennessee. And if Daboll did the kind of job with Ward that he did with Allen, he'd likely get another head coach opportunity soon enough.
