The Buffalo Bills need a new head coach.
And a look at Google Trends in the moments after Sean McDermott was fired showed a couple names popping up for Bills fans: Brian Daboll and Mike McDaniel.
Both familiar faces, for different reasons.
Daboll was the offensive coordinator with Josh Allen before he left to be the head coach of the New York Giants. Things didn't work out there, and Daboll was dismissed midway through the 2025 season.

By the same token, Daboll's struggles weren't all his fault. GM Joe Schoen put together a roster devoid of talent.
Would the Bills hire Daboll as a head coach? It's hard to say, given his Giants tenure ended so poorly. But he's a fascinating name out there, especially if offensive coordinator Joe Brady were to depart for a job elsewhere.
Then there's McDaniel, who seemed like a wizard of a head coach for the Miami Dolphins before things went off the rails.
He made it to the end of the 2025 season before he was let go.
McDaniel's personality isn't for everyone, but his offensive mind is fantastic. He's been getting offensive coordinator interviews in this cycle.
He, too, would be one to consider if Brady doesn't stick around after McDermott's firing.

The Bills have to move quickly, because big names John Harbaugh and Kevin Stefanski have already been hired by the Giants and Falcons, respectively.
Buffalo can't afford to get this move wrong. Whether Daboll or McDaniel would be the right call is hard to say. But fans are curious about them, and that's because they both would be notable hires for their own reasons.
