The Buffalo Bills entered the week as the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoff picture, holding the top wild card spot. With a win, they would have gotten to 8-3 on the season and gotten within a game of the New England Patriots for AFC East lead.
Unfortunately for Buffalo, they fell to the Houston Texans 23-19. At 7-4, the Bills are now the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoff picture. The Los Angeles Chargers now hold the top wild card spot, and they are on a bye, so there is no chance for the Bills to move up before the end of the weekend.
The Bills still have another game against the Patriots, which will go a long way in determining the AFC East. They also have games against the Steelers in Pittsburgh, home against the Cincinnati Bengals, and home against the Philadelphia Eagles. For the time being, though, the AFC standings are as follows:
AFC Playoff Teams
- Denver Broncos (9-2)
- New England Patriots (9-2)
- Indianapolis Colts (8-2)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (6-4)
- Los Angeles Chargers (7-4)
- Buffalo Bills (7-4)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (6-4)
In The Hunt
8. Houston Texans (6-5)
9. Kansas City Chiefs (5-5)
10. Baltimore Ravens (5-5)
