Bills still in Keon Coleman's 'corner' but for how long remains a mystery image

Buffalo Bills receiver Keon Coleman hasn't had the Year 2 many envisioned after his 100-yard game in Week 1.

It has been a battle both on and off the field for Keon, who has struggled for consistency, along with some problems off the field that saw him be a healthy scratch for Buffalo's 44-32 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Message sent? The Bills surely hope so.

And if it wasn't, veteran left tackle Dion Dawkins made sure it hit home to his young teammate.

"As an older player on the team, we hold everybody accountable and we shoot straight,” Dawkins said. “We don't sugarcoat it, the words said to him, and he took it well. We'll see how it goes this week. But I'm in Keon's corner, man.

"This league is hard. Being on time is hard. Being great is hard. Pushing for greatness is hard. So, we got his back, but the time is now for Keon to come on."

Coleman facing roster pressure

Receivers Gabe Davis (40 yards), Tyrell Shavers (90 yards, one touchdown), and Mecole Hardman are pushing to get more snaps after their performances against the Buccaneers.

And considering Davis was called up from the practice squad and Hardman was signed this past week, Joe Brady has options at receiver now, and you could make the case that unless something drastically changes this week, Buffalo could roll out the same receiver group in Week 12.

Where that would leave Coleman is unknown, but it wouldn't be a nice feeling.

As Dawkins stated, he's in Keon's corner, but the time has come for him to be the weapon the Bills desperately need him to be if they are to make a Super Bowl run.

But it starts with being better at practice first.
