Buffalo Bills receiver Keon Coleman is having a tough time right now, or as Dion Dawkins said, on the "hot seat" after being late to a team meeting that saw him be a healthy scratch in Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The young receiver has struggled for consistency on the field, and to an extent, off the field, with this being his second "issue" this season, and the Bills need him to be part of their plans going forward.

And when asked about Keon and what took place on Sunday, head coach Sean McDermott delivered perhaps the perfect response to what is expected from Coleman after his latest misstep.

“The important piece is that we and he learns from this and he grows from this,” McDermott said. “You grow from it, we can move forward, you don't grow from it, it's hard to move forward. So, ultimately becomes about developing trust and the trust that your teammates have in you, and that trust builds through repetition and consistency.

"That's the direction that we need him to go, and we believe he will go.”

Will Coleman play vs. Texans?

That will all depend on how Coleman practices this week, and let's not forget, the Bills are in action on Thursday night, so it is a short week for Keon to prove to his team and coaching staff that he's good to go.

McDermott said "we'll see" when asked if Keon will play against Houston, so it is clear the franchise needs/wants to see certain things from their young receiver before putting him back into the lineup.

And with Gabe Davis and Tyrell Shavers both having good games in the win over Tampa Bay, maybe there isn't a way back for Coleman just yet.

Trust and consistency are the two things the Bills need from Coleman moving forward, and if he is to see the field again, both will need to be at a high level.

The path forward is set for Keon. Now he has to walk it.
