The Buffalo Bills are making a very questionable decision against the New England Patriots in Week 15. Per the team inactive report, they are making wide receiver Gabe Davis a gameday scratch.
Davis had become a big part of the offense since being elevated from the practice squad ahead of the team's Week 10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he caught three passes for 40 yards. In four games, Davis has caught seven passes. And while those numbers aren't going to blow anyone away, he picked up right where he left off in terms of being a great run blocker.
This puts a ton of pressure on Keon Coleman, who was made a healthy scratch for two games against the Buccaneers and Houston Texans. He made his return to the lineup against the Pittsburgh Steeles, catching a touchdown. He caught one pass for 16 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14.
This also puts a lot of attention on head coach Sean McDermott for making this decision. If Coleman struggles and the Bills lose, he will have egg all over his face for making a decision almost no one agrees with.
The Bills need a win over the Patriots to remain alive in the AFC East race. Should Buffalo lose, the Patriots clinch the division, marking the first time Buffalo wouldn't have won the division since 2019.
