The Buffalo Bills remained stagnant at the NFL trade deadline, failing to acquire a difference-maker at wide receiver, which mane many a fan very upset with general manager Brandon Beane.

The likes of Jakobi Meyers and Chris Olave were reported to have the Bills' attention. However, Meyers went to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for fourth and sixth-round picks, while Olave stayed put in New Orleans. His teammate, Rashid Shaheed, did get traded, though, as the deep threat was sent to the Seattle Seahawks for fourth and fifth-round picks.

While Buffalo failed to land a wideout at the deadline, Vinnie Iyer projects that the Bills will take a wide receiver his first 2026 NFL mock draft, as he has Buffalo selecting USC wide receiver Makai Lemon.

"The Bills need to give Dalton Kincaid some more reliable help from wide receiver and Lemon fits their offense well with his strong, big-play route-running, lining up anywhere, especially dominant in the slot such as the Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown," Iyer writes.

Lemon is in the midst of a terrific season, catching 50 passes for 776 yards and six touchdowns in eight games. In 2024, he caught 52 passes and three touchdowns with the Trojans.

Buffalo has had a shaky history when it comes to early draft picks, as the likes of Kaiir Elam and Keon Coleman have been abject failures in terms of where they were drafted vs. The production they have given. Elam has since been traded after the Bills took him in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and Coleman has struggled to become the No. 1 wideout Buffalo hoped he would be. Perhaps Lemon could be that No. 1 target that the Bills have been looking for.
