The Buffalo Bills fell to a horror 30-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium as Sean McDermott's team wasted last week's win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Josh Allen and the offense were kept in check by Miami's defense, but one player, who played a fleeting role for Buffalo, but one that continues to get bigger each week, was tight end Jackson Hawes.
Drafted for his blocking ability in the run game, Hawes, over the past couple of weeks, has begun to heat up as a pass-catcher.
Games of 15 and 18 yards saw Hawes step into his role and produce, and against the Dolphins, Allen, who was chasing the game late in the fourth quarter, hit Hawes for a 26-yard touchdown, in what was the tight end's second touchdown of the year.
So, the overall picture will be bleak for Buffalo, as it will fall further behind in the AFC East after the New England Patriots' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At least Hawes is beginning to pick up steam as a pass-catcher.
Can Bills still win AFC East?
They can, but right now, the Bills have transformed into an inconsistent football team.
To play like they did against the Chiefs, to then produce what they did against Miami, Buffalo appears to be struggling to find an identity, and once again, interceptions have crept back into Allen's game.
He's now thrown five this season, and all have come in the last six weeks, as the offense continues to stutter and splutter.
Some thought the Bills had turned the corner against Kansas City, but against Miami, the franchise gave back all the credit they earned last week.
At least Hawes is beginning to come along, right?
