The Buffalo Bills' season ended in controversy, as it tends to do. In overtime against the Denver Broncos, Josh Allen threw a pass that appeared to be caught by Brandin Cooks and would have set the Bills up for a potential game-winning field goal in overtime. Instead, Ja'Quan McMillan came up with the ball and it was ruled an interception, despite Cooks knee being down with the ball in his hands and contact being made.

The Broncos then took the ball downfield and got into field goal range off the strength of two questionable pass interference calls where Will Lutz won the game. Afterwards, Bills head coach Sean McDermott was visibly angry at how the officiating took over the game.

“It would seem logical to me to check and see just to make sure [it was an interception]," McDermott said via Sal Capaccio. "I called timeout to slow down their review process. It’s hard for me to understand why it was ruled the way it was. That’s a pivotal play. I’m saying it because I’m standing up for Buffalo.”

If the play was reviewed and ruled a catch, there is a very good chance the Bills kick a game-winning field goal and advance to the AFC Championship Game. Now, they enter another offseason off the back of a heartbreaking loss in the playoffs, and will face several questions on if they need to make changes in the front office, on their coaching staff, or both.
