When the Buffalo Bills decided to fire head coach Sean McDermott after nearly a decade in charge, the move was met with some pushback.

Especially with general manager Brandon Beane getting a promotion as a corresponding move.

Then the horror press conference happened with owner Terry Pegula in a nutshell, laying all the blame on McDermott and giving Beane a free pass, despite Beane having two hands on the wheel in roster construction.

For some, after the press conference, the Bills' head coach position isn't as coveted as it once was.

But for NFL.com's Judy Battista, it's No. 1 this offseason.

"The coaching carousel has gone berserk this year, and immediately following the Divisional Round, it claimed a TENTH head man: Sean McDermott, who took the Bills to the playoffs in eight of his nine seasons (making each of the last six Divisional Rounds) and won 106 games in Buffalo, but not enough of the biggest ones," Battista wrote.

"Still, Allen is a huge draw and so is the brand-new stadium that will open next season. General manager Brandon Beane is staying on and has been named president of football operations, giving him greater power, including oversight of the coaching staff. That's an interesting development, considering there were some inarguable roster deficiencies this season."

Who could be Bills' new HC?

There are several options, with Philip Rivers the latest to see his name thrown up, which is a curveball.

Others include Brian Daboll, who has worked with Josh Allen in Buffalo before, so that move makes perfect sense. Plus, he's an offensive mind, so that should factor in, too.

The other is Joe Brady, Allen's current offensive coordinator.

A simple promotion would see some continuity for Allen in an offseason of significant change.

Exactly how wide a net Buffalo casts will be interesting, so too will be who the franchise, with Allen's help, hires to spearhead a new era for Bills football.

Battista still thinks the Bills' job is attractive, and with Allen and a new stadium, you can see why.
